China Southern Air Holding Company (CSAH) was established on October 11, 2002 and is a state-owned air transportation group with China Southern Airlines as its main core entity, together with the assets and flight operations of Xinjiang Airlines and China Northern Airlines.

CSAH is one of the three major air transportation group directly managed by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission which specializes in air transportation and cargo logistics, aero engines maintenance, import & export trading, financing, construction and development and media and advertising. CSAH has more than 90,000 employees and manages assets in excess of RMB 200 billion.

In 1997, China Southern launched its first public stock offering and was publicly traded on the New York and Hong Kong Stock Exchanges and again in 2003 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

China Southern Air Holding Company currently owns 8 member companies, including: China Southern Airlines Company Limited, China Southern Air Holding Company Import & Export Trading Co. Ltd, China Southern Air Holding Company Finance Co. Ltd, China Southern Air Holding Company Ground Services Co. Ltd, China Southern Air Holding Company Media Co. Ltd, China Southern Air Holding Company Construction & Development Co. Ltd, MTU Maintenance Zhuhai Co. Ltd and China Southern Air Holding Company Property Management Co. Ltd.

China Southern Airlines has 15 domestic branches, namely: Xinjiang, Northern, Beijing, Shenzhen, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Dalian, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Hainan, Shanghai, Zhuhai Helicopter, Xi’an and Taiwan. China Southern Airlines also has 6 subsidiary airlines: Xiamen Airlines, Shantou Airlines, Guizhou Airlines, Zhuhai Airlines, Chongqing Airlines and Henan Airlines. The Company also has established bases in Nanyang and Daqing and 25 domestic offices in cities such as Chengdu, Hangzhou and Nanjing. China Southern also has 64 international offices in major world cites, including: New York City, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Dubai, Sydney, Vancouver, Tokyo and Seoul.

China Southern has flight training academies in Beijing, China and Perth, Australia;a Flight Simulator Training Center and an Aero Engines Maintenance Center, both in Zhuhai.

China Southern operates the largest aircraft fleet and the most extensive air network of any airline in China as well as carrying the greatest volume of passengers per annum. Currently, it operates more than 600 aircrafts and helicopters, including the Boeing 787, 777, 757, 737 as well as the Airbus A380, 330, 321, 320 and 319. In terms of fleet size, China Southern is the largest airline of Asia and the fifth among the 240 airlines of IATA, being the first airline in the world to operate both A380 and B787 Dreamliner.

China Southern has formed an extensive route network with Guangzhou, Beijing, Urumqi and Chongqing as its hubs, to span more than 150 domestic destinations and 40 Asian destinations. The airline has close links with Europe, America, Australia and Africa, and every day it has more than 540 flight routes and over 300,000 seats available into the airline marketplace. It has nearly 2,000 daily flights across the 190 destinations of 40 nations and regions. With its close partnership with other SkyTeam partner airlines, China Southern has broadened its air network to now connect to 177 nations and areas across the world with convenient access to 1,052 destinations, including all major world cities.

China Southern is committed to building the international aviation hub of “Canton Route”, and Guangzhou (Canton) has become the greatest gateway for people in Mainland China to Oceania and Southeast Asia.

By December 30, 2014, China Southern has achieved 13.50 million hours of safe flight operations, or 182 consecutive months of flight safety and 247 consecutive months of aviation safety. It has carried more than 800 million passengers without incident, enjoying a leading position both in China and abroad in terms of safety management.

China Southern boasts extraordinary flight capabilities and has more than 5,300 pilots. It is the only airline in China with the independent pilot training competency. In partnership with CAE, Inc., the world renowned flight simulator manufacturer, China Southern has built a flight training center, ranking the first in Asia. It enjoys a vibrant aircraft maintenance capability, and the Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Co. Ltd.(GAMECO), a subsidy of China Southern Airlines, has one of the largest aircraft maintenance hangars in Asia. Also through its partnership with the MTU Aero Engines, China Southern Airlines operates a massive aero engine maintenance base - the largest in China in terms of facility and overhaul capabilities.

China Southern boasts complete aircraft maintenance and advanced IT systems as evident in its ultra-modern System Operation Control Center and Engine Performance Monitoring System. Both have earned the second award of China’s prestigious National Science & Technology Progress.

China Southern is the first airline in China to sell e-tickets as well as offering online and mobile check-in services. The carrier has introduced many market-leading information systems, including: Aviation Revenue Management, Operation Control, Financial Management, HR, Cargo, and OA Systems.

Today China Southern has a freight depot that spans some 280,000 square meters and an annual cargo throughput of 800,000 tons. It also has a specialized aviation catering center that can create and deliver more than 30 million aviation meals per year.

China Southern has also earned accolades as “The Best Airlines in China’,“The Outstanding Contributor to Society in Social Responsibility ” and “The Outstanding Contributor to Energy Saving Undertaking of China”.

By September 28, 2012, China Southern accumulated 10 million hours of safe flight operations, equal to 219 consecutive months, and totally carried more than 540 million passengers without incident. With the highest safety star-level and best safety performance, China Southern won the first “Diamond Flight Safety Award” in Chinese civil aviation industry. In 2012, 2013, China Southern, for the second consecutive year, has been honored as the “Most Appreciated Chinese Companies”, by Fortune Magazine (the Chinese Version). In 2014, China Southern has won “the Best Airlines of China, Star of China Awards” from Global Finance, as well as “the Most Appreciated Chinese Company in Transportation and Logistics Industry.”
