Freight insurance claims guidelines

Abstract:

During the period of insurance liability, once the accident or loss within the insurance liability occurs, please refer to the following procedures to handle the claim.


To report

(1)


After you are informed of the occurrence of the accident that may cause insurance claim, please immediately dial the insurance company property special line to report a crime to the police or contact the survey agent listed on the policy to report a crime.

When reporting a crime, please inform:

A) coverage and policy number;
B) the time, place, cause and course of the accident;
C) items, extent and estimated amount of loss;
D) contact person and contact information of insurance claim

To assist the exploration
Upon receipt of your report, the insurance company will immediately go to the scene for investigation and require the assistance of the reporter:

A) arrange personnel who understand the accident to accompany the survey;
B) protect the site and damaged goods before the site is surveyed by claims personnel;
C) take photos or videos of the accident site, damaged goods and damaged areas in a timely manner, and make statistics on the damaged items;
D) provide the required claim documents and photos;
E) seek the approval of the insurance company before repairing or disposing of the damaged goods.

Filing of claims

A) insurance policy and application;
B) notice of loss and claim application;
C) bills of lading/waybills and/or other freight contracts;
D) sales contract, invoice, packing list/pound and yard list, customs declaration;
E) invoices for repair and replacement of damaged goods;
F) certificates and materials related to the confirmation of the nature, cause and degree of loss of the insured accident, such as cargo list, cargo damage and loss certificate, inspection report, traffic accident confirmation, fire cause confirmation, maritime declaration, maritime report, etc.;
G) where the liability of a third party is involved, the claim letter from the responsible party shall be issued;
H) other information relating to the claim.

Note: unless otherwise specified, the above documents refer to the original documents.


Provide relevant information

After the insurance compensation amount is determined, the insurance company will timely pay the indemnity to the customer. In view of the relevant compliance requirements, the method of indemnity payment will be subject to the following restrictions or you are required to provide relevant information:

A) in accordance with relevant provisions, the insurance company shall pay the indemnity through bank transfer, and the customer shall be requested to provide the bank account name, bank account number, international wire transfer code and bank information;


B) according to the provisions of the state foreign exchange control, the insurance amount/liability limit is RMB business, and the insurance company can only pay the indemnity in RMB; If the insured amount/liability limit is in foreign currency, the indemnity shall be paid in foreign currency.


C) according to the relevant provisions of national anti-money laundering management, the recipient of large amount of insurance claims shall be identified. Legal persons, other organizations and individual industrial and commercial customers need to provide a copy of business license with official seal, organization code, tax registration certificate, controlling shareholder or actual controller, legal representative, person in charge and authorized handle business personnel's id card.

To assist the recovery

In cases involving third-party liability, the client shall not waive the right of claim against the responsible party, and shall assist the insurance company to recover from the third party.

A) immediately lodge a claim for compensation with the shipper, the terminal management or other trustee for the missing goods;

B) in the case of goods in unknown condition, a clean receipt shall not be issued and duly signed unless a written declaration of reservation is made;

C) after the insurance compensation is paid, the insurance company shall timely issue the receipt, the transfer of rights and interests and other materials required for recovery, and assist the insurance company in recovery.

The above documents are sorted out according to the basic documents required by each insurance company when settling claims, for reference only. Due to the different circumstances of specific cases, the required documents may be increased or decreased. The specific documents shall be subject to the requirements of the claims personnel.
